In some cases MRS -Material Replenishment System- is used to identify items suitable for order point handling, calculating, when and where necessary, the trigger levels, order quantities and safety stock. MRS can handle user defined ordering parameters, carry out monthly usage analysis and signal articles needing review. It also calculates the costs of stocking idle materials.

Amongst its many functions, SOS has the ability to deal with single and blanket orders.
